What is C60 Fullerene?

C60, or buckminsterfullerene, is a molecule composed of 60 carbon atoms arranged in a perfect spherical cage — a structure so elegant it earned its discoverers the 1996 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

The molecule

C60 was discovered in 1985 by Sir Harry Kroto, Robert Curl and Richard Smalley. The 60 carbon atoms form a hollow sphere with the same geometric pattern as a football — 12 pentagons and 20 hexagons. The structure is named after the architect Richard Buckminster Fuller, whose geodesic domes share the same geometry.

The science

Since the landmark Baati et al. (2012) study, C60 has attracted sustained interest from the scientific community, particularly in relation to its antioxidant properties and interaction with biological systems. The molecule's electron-accepting structure makes it an unusually effective free-radical scavenger in laboratory studies.

It is important to be honest about the state of the evidence: most published research is in vitro or in animal models. Human clinical trial data is limited, and C60 is not authorised as a novel food under EU Regulation 2015/2283. We present this product for personal research, topical use, and as a premium oil product — not as a medicine or food supplement.

Our formulation

We dissolve 99.9% pure, solvent-free C60 fullerene into certified organic extra-virgin olive oil — the same carrier used in the original Baati study. EVOO is uniquely suited:
